01

ZIEZO FAIR

ZieZo-Flanders is a trade fair focused on all aspects of assistive devices for blind and visually impaired people. A final dissemination event was organized in April 2025 at the yearly Ziezo Vlaanderen fair for blind people in Gent. Revision Implant had a booth there, and KUL and Revision Implant obtained the responses of 30 blind people on a survey to inquire about their attitude towards a brain implant to achieve artificial vision. We also received responses on the same survey presented online, and will continue to obtain responses in the next reporting period.

The Eye and the Chip conference 2024

The Eye and The Chip is a research congress that seeks to marry the most recent advances in nanoelectronics and neurobiology – to provide artificial vision to many people who are now blind as a result of many eye conditions, diseases and injuries. The conference is dedicated to: Identifying areas of progress in the wedding between neurobiology and nanotechnology which will one day provide devices to be placed in the eye or the brain of many persons now blind to afford them some level of useful vision Achieving, by collegial interchange, collaborative relationships between major programs in Europe, America, Asia and Australia Identifying advances and challenges remaining in the global pursuit of true artificial vision Identifying outcomes of device implantation where it is occurring – Europe, US, etc. Identifying progress in the US FDA approval of visual Neuro-prosthetic device implantation in humans The Hyperstim team presented their paper: Calcium imaging of high-resolution advanced intracortical stimulation in the visual cortex.

The Brain and The Chip 2024

Hyperstim was selected to present at this year’s the brain and the chip meeting! Multiple members of our hyperstim participated in The Brain and the Chip conference 2024 in Alicante: Lara Merken: Effect of epicranial Direct Current Stimulation on baseline activity and orientation tuning in macaque primary visual cortex Maarten Schelles: High-resolution intracortical visual prosthetics. Laurens Goyvaerts: Stimulation feasibility study in sheep of flexible intracortical microelectrodes for a cortical visual prosthesis

Fens Forum 2024

We hosted our networking event at the FENS Forum on June 25th 2024, where European neuroscience meets the world. On June 25 th 2024, we organized a social event (together with Daniel Hillier, in the Brain Prosthesis Interest group) at the FENS Forum meeting in Vienna entitled ‘European Brain Prosthesis: landscape and challenges’. The format of the event was short presentations by Lara Merken (KUL, Research highlights) and Frederik Ceyssens (REV, Industry landscape), followed by an animated roundtable discussion (Peter Janssen, KUL, and Lucia Wittner, TTK). In addition, a blind patient joined online to give the patient’s perspective. The event was attended by approximately 100 neuroscientists, and was followed by a reception for networking.

05

Brain Awareness Week

We had an interactive station where visitors could try to implant different kinds of brain implants (including Hyperstim probes) into agarose gel using our robot stereotactic equipment.

06

International Neuroscience Conference 2024

TTK was present at the international neuroscience conference on 25th-26th January, 2024 at the Endre Grastyán theoretical building of the Medical School, University of Pécs!

07

Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting

Each year, scientists from around the world congregate to discover new ideas, share their research, and experience the best the field has to offer. Attendees can present research, network with scientists, attend session and events, and browse the exhibit hall. 2024: Peter attended the annual meeting of the society of neuroscience in San Diego to present their poster: Effects of epicranial direct current stimulation on orientation tuning in macaque primary visual cortex.

08

EIC Brain Tools Portfolio Meeting 2024

On February 26th we were at the EIC Brain tools portfolio meeting.

09

Artificial Vision 2024

We attended Artificial Vision 2024 in Aachen, Germany. We presented “Pre-clinical cortical prosthesis studies at ReVision Implant” at the Artificial Vision symposium in Aachen.

10

MedTech Convention 2023 & 2024

We were invited to present ReVision’s innovations and technology for students at the MedTech Convention of 2023.
