Gustavo Deco
Gustavo Deco is an Argentinian and Italian professor and scientist. He serves as Research Professor at the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies and Full Professor (Catedratico) at the Pompeu Fabra University, where he is Director of the Center of Brain and Cognition and head of the Computational Neuroscience Group. In 2001 Deco was awarded the international prize of Siemens “Inventor of the Year” for his contributions in statistical learning, models of visual perception, and fMRI based diagnosis of neuropsychiatric diseases.

Juan Mucarquer Fuentes
Juan A. M. Fuentes received his P. Eng. and MSc. on electronic engineering from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Valparaiso, Chile in 2018, and Ph.D. from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia in 2023. His Ph.D. thesis focuses on sensory neuroscience, in particular, developing a unifying framework to assess neural adaptation impairments of acute acoustic trauma and other types of hearing-loss in small mammals, viewing single-neuron and population responses from the auditory midbrain through the efficient coding hypothesis. He worked as a casual academic and research assistant for the Australian Hearing Hub, and at the Digital Signal Processing team at Cochlear in Sydney, Australia. His research interests are sensory and computational neuroscience, with a strong background on information theory and optimization theory. Currently he is a postdoc at the Computational Neuroscience Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain.
